Acupuncture (reflexology)

REFLEXOLOGY (RT) is the philosophy, science and art of healing the sick and strengthening the health of the healthy. It is the oldest generally recognized method of traditional Oriental medicine, which is based on the effect on biologically active points and reflexogenic zones of the nervous system. The resulting impulses are transmitted to the appropriate nerve centers, and the nervous system, in turn, sends signals to the affected organ that activate self-healing systems.

THE PURPOSE of RT is to activate the body's defenses, increase its adaptive capabilities, restore energy balance and, as a result, harmonize the functions of all organs and systems.

RT is especially effective in the early stages of diseases.

The HISTORY of traditional Chinese medicine dates back thousands of years. It is based on the theory of holism (the integrity of the body).

In its classical form, the teaching of "Zhen-jiu" ("zhen" ‑ needle prick, "jiu" ‑ cauterization with lumps of smoldering wormwood) arose at the beginning of the III century BC, and originates from the time of the appearance of Chinese writing.
Since 1027, "zhen-ju" therapy in China has become an independent medical specialty. In Europe, information about the therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion began to appear at the beginning of the XVII century.

Nowadays, RT has become widespread among alternative medicine methods in the healthcare practice of France, Italy, England, Germany, USA, Canada, Romania, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria.

The use of acupuncture in medical institutions of the USSR began in the late 40s of the last century. Acupuncture was officially recognized in 1957 by order of the Ministry of Health of the USSR, and active use began in the 60s. - RT departments were established in Moscow, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg.

RT is recognized by WHO as a scientifically based discipline and recommended for wide application in practical medicine. Since November 16, 2010, acupuncture has been included in the UNESCO register of "Treatment".

ACUPUNCTURE (acupuncture) - from the Latin "acus"- needle, "punctio"-to prick.

There are more than 1,000 biologically active points (BAT) on the surface of the human body. 365 classical points belonging to 14 functional channel systems that run along the surface of the body and through internal organs are described.
When acupuncture points are irritated, mechanisms that contribute to the activation of adaptation processes are activated, the functional state of the nervous system changes with the restoration of the ability to adequately regulate controlled functions.

The impact on the BAHT should be extremely verified. A set of points for procedures (acupuncture prescription), the depth of penetration of the needle, the technique of setting and manipulating the needle, as well as the frequency and duration of the procedure are strictly individual. The reflexologist takes into account the peculiarities of the constitution and psychological state of each individual patient, the specifics of the disease and concomitant pathology, the range of therapeutic effects, the nature of the individual response to the procedure, in addition, meteorological factors, season, time of day are taken into account.

METHODS OF INFLUENCE used in the reflexology room:

Classical acupuncture (corporate reflexology) is the placement of acupuncture needles in biologically active points of the body (BAT).
Craniopuncture is a scalporeflexotherapy.
Auricular reflexology is the placement of needles in the auricle.

Microneedle therapy is the use of special small needles ("buttons"), which are attached to the projection of the auricle with a Band‑Aid and have a prolonged irritating effect.

Applicopressopuncture (tsubo therapy) is the fixation of stainless steel balls or seeds, 1-2 mm in diameter, in the projection areas of the body and auricle.
Surface acupuncture with a multi-needle hammer (Mei-Hua-Zhen) is an effect on the skin surface areas corresponding to the areas of damage to nerve trunks, on the vegetative orientation of the cervical-collar zone, segmental-visceral orientation. In pediatrics, the method is effectively used to increase the overall immunoreactivity of the body, with neurasthenia, insomnia, headaches, torpid course of chronic diseases, enuresis, painful mensis in girls, chronic pain syndrome in diseases of the musculoskeletal system, etc.

Cupping massage (static and sliding vacuum therapy techniques) is an effective and physiological method of treatment, primarily of neurological and bronchopulmonary pathology. It helps to relieve pain, activate regional blood supply, improve nerve conduction and activity of the neuromuscular apparatus, stimulates the course of reparative processes.
Thermoreflexotherapy (Chiu therapy) is the thermal effect on the BAHT with the help of smoldering wormwood cigars and cones, as an independent method and in conjunction with acupuncture (Zhen-Chiu). Neurohumoral shifts occur in the ganglia, spinal cord and medulla oblongata, hypothalamic region, cerebral cortex, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system is activated, the overall reactivity of the body increases. There is evidence of the bactericidal properties of wormwood in purulent-inflammatory processes.
Pharmacoacupuncture (injection reflexotherapy) is the introduction of drugs into the body and auricle. There are a number of modifications of this method, including the introduction of drugs not only into acupuncture points, but also into pain points (trigger points), as well as into certain metameres, depending on the pathology of internal organs.
The use of reflexotherapy methods in cosmetology practice is of interest.

General medical indications for the use of rt:

  • Treatment of functional disorders of organs and systems;
  • Prevention of diseases, relapses of chronic diseases;
  • Rehabilitation after various diseases, injuries, and surgical operations;
